Sometimes life has a funny way of working out. In my volleyball days at UNR it always seemed clear that my two teammates Carly and Karly were meant to be close friends. At times, the nearly inseparable pair would conjure up ways they could become family. They each had younger brothers. Karly’s younger brother Kyle presented the most realistic opportunity for marriage. But by the time we finished playing volleyball Kyle was on a mission and the two had never struck up more than a conversation. During that period Carly also decided to serve a mission. When Carly got back, Kyle was hanging out at home in Auburn with his sister Karly for the summer. At some point Carly’s trips to visit her best friend Karly encountered a dramatic change. Something had happened. Carly and Kyle were falling in love. No scheme intact.
Last week I got to go and witness this destined union in Reno. It was a beautiful day, and an incredible experience to see such close friends so happy. Carly Sipherd and Karly Sipherd are now officially sisters (in law) and Kyle and Carly are madly in love. What more could the world want?

My friend John asked me if I would like to shoot with him at one of his upcoming events so of course I said yes! This wedding was at the Arbors of Fairview in Aberdeen just past the reservoir in American Falls. I had never heard of it before. After parking in the empty potato field I wasn’t sure what to expect. But it ended up being beautiful spot with gorgeous gardens and paths and lots of shade, which all help if you want pretty pictures! These are some of the moments I captured while there.

Last spring Amber found my website while searching the web for a photographer that would capture her beautiful wedding at Teton Springs in August. It was a fortunate match. I love it when that happens! Amber was able to take advantage of my special Eastern Idaho pricing (which I am still offering…) and I was selected to capture all of the love, fun, and happiness of this playful and gorgeous couple. They also selected the option of having a second photographer, which streamlined the getting ready process prior to the ceremony, and gave them even more beautiful images throughout the day for them to keep.
Amber came down for her bridals in July (loved her session!) and I met Scott for the first time on the big day. But by the end of the night we were strangers no more. Which is just one of the perks of being a photographer. You get to know your subjects pretty well and sometimes rather quickly, especially when you spend the entire wedding day together. Which is one reason why clients should get a feel for a photographer before booking, to ensure sure they will be a good fit.
The ceremony took place on the 9th hole on the golf course. The reception was held near the lodge in a tent that looked exquisite. I would love to post some more pictures, especially of the reception, but this will at least give you a taste of what a remarkable wedding they had.

I have, yet again, another outdoor urban shoot full of crumbling walls and textured brick. Yay! This is always a favorite setting of mine. This time I was in Provo with a new friend-of-a-friend, Dan, who just wanted a fun photo shoot. Sweet! I certainly had fun, and I hope he did as well. These are some of my favorites so far.
Oh, and stay tuned for Amber & Scott’s lovely wedding at Teton Springs. I have been working on all 1500 or so images and will be posting my favorites soon.

I am booking sessions in and around Provo and Salt Lake City between August 10-13. Hit me up if you or anyone you know wants in! If you refer someone not already on my list of contacts and they book a session I’ll give $10 photo credit to each of you.

This is so tiny, but it’s as big as I it comes! If you email me a request, I can send you the larger pdf version.
